Perfect Planting Times

The difference between trees and plants is that trees grow bigger in size whereas plants are smaller. All trees do not grow in the same kind of a climate and at the same time of the year, and so it is thus relevant that different kinds of climates are required for different trees and plants, depending on the kind of plant you wish to grow.

When trees are planted at the recommended time and season, along with the proper soil and manure required, then there is no doubt that they will attain their desired growth. Various plant nurseries provide seeds and small saplings of the trees one wishes to grow in their garden. One can sow seeds into the soil or one can even transplant a grown tree on to the desired location.

Trees and plants can be grown depending on the type of climate of that particular region. If you live in a warm climate then one can plant trees any time of the year, except summer as the strong summer heat presents too great a threat to young trees as young plants are unable to withstand the strong heat.

The weather is too hot during the summers hence the actively growing trees are more prone to damages during the summer season. Actually the best time for planting trees is late winter or the early spring. Better still autumn would also be best suited for your plantation.

Also the extreme cold weathers, especially the snowy regions cause the ground to freeze thus making it difficult to plant trees. In extreme cold weathers the plants have to be planted before the ground freezes as the extreme cold freezes the ground and soil.

In general the best time for planting trees is late winter or early spring. The kinds of trees which you can grow:

  • You can grow the deciduous trees and shrubs and the evergreens while the deciduous trees and shrubs can be planted anytime between early November and the end of March, (as long as the ground does not get frozen or waterlogged)
  • The evergreens could be planted in the months of September / October or during late March, April and May.

It is very important to note that extreme heat is a point of major concern to newly planted trees as also the extreme cold climates. It is very essential that the water should reach the root systems of the plant. Hence regardless of whether you have opted for planting in summer/ autumn / late winter or early spring, plants have to be taken care of and watered well. One should not forget that along with sufficient water proper sunlight is required for the plants natural growth.
